Academic Stress and Overthinking
Hello everyone this is my first thread here. I'm a teenager who's always been a top student in academics. Always felt this was an advantage and how lucky I was that I have this potential. But then as I'm growing up it's getting harder to cope with. Ofc it's way harder to study now since all the subjects are tough but again if I don't study enough I won't be able to hold my postion. Not like my parents force me or anything but the thought of someone else getting praised as the top student brings me anxiety but then i almost pass out before exams cuz there's too much to cover and I'm not punctual AT ALL. Im severely scared of exams still and even throw up before any big exam bcuz i fear what if I don't score well. I even gave my exams sitting in the medical room few years ago. I overthink every single step. Im dead scared of taking responsibilities cuz I always fear that I misunderstood instructions and one mistake will lead to another and I'll just ruin everything. This impacts my life alot. My family life ain't easy either. It's all so puzzled and idek about my career choices. Im leading to nowhere in life. I just distract myself but the voices in my head won't stop. Only if i could reduce my overthinking and somewhat unnecessary anxiety. Pls give me suggestions.

i was you too❤️the constant pressure of being the smart kid in class bc that’s the only way i got noticed by anyone at all. though it’s a laughable moment now, that day a kid in my class picked me to be class chairperson bc of my grades stuck with me and i alw fought to be btr that everyone else. i had mild anxiety once bfr an exam too🫶🫶not as bad as yours but it was eye opening. i think you have to remember that at the end of the day someone is better than you and that’s ok. it’ll be hard to accept and you will probably have anxiety over it. honestly if it’s really bad i’d recommend telling some adult in your life. doesn’t hv to be ur parents. cld be a teacher you trust but u shld tell someone🫶🫶it’ll be hard but it’ll be worth it hopefully. you’ll do great things in your life. but sometimes some other kid will outscore you and that’s ok it’s not gna be the end of the world and it’s gna be ok🫶🫶
stay stronggg wishing you all the very best

I'm sure I wrote this somewhere else a few years back, but it is worth repeating again.
Grades don't matter. If you get 100% on a test or if you get 0% on a test, five years from now it means nothing. What matters is what you do, how you do it, and the effort you put in.
I knew someone that was so panicked about grades he broke down and cried when he got his first "bad" grade. He thought it was the end of the world...but then life went on. Nothing changed except the fact that he realized that things just kept moving forward and it wasn't as devastating as he thought it would be.
Do the best that you can. Work hard but don't work yourself up into a frenzy about a grade. I know people that had terrible grades TERRIBLE grades in high school that are now doctors and CEOs of companies.
You'll do great. You'll be okay!
@SallyWrites143 i see that your academic life is stressing you and is actually affecting you.
@AReine i know that feeling very well. It is not easy. However do your best and try not to think about the results. You just study heard and leave the rest. Stressing doesn't make things better, it only worsens it.
