Anxiety about losing loved ones

Hello friends, thank you in advance for listening. I have ongoing anxiety about my aging parents and the inevitable truth that I am going to lose them. With each passing year my fear grows stronger. I don’t know how I will cope when that time comes and I honestly don’t know how I will get through life without them. I feel like I’m trying to practice the tragedy so the sadness doesn’t knock me off my feet so hard, but I know it’s going to bowl me over no matter what. I also know that there isn’t anything I can do so it’s a waste of time worrying, but that is what anxiety is all about. I can’t help it. I would love any advice or words or wisdoms on how to stop the constant thoughts of fear and sadness playing in my head on how my life will seem to end when I lose my parents. It’s really starting to affect me.

@scvd582

It is an item we can not control we never know it or when we will lose someone ... we imagine the worse and while being realistic about the possibility is  Ok ...and better then those who kid themselves that nothing will ever happen...

The thoughts about what is next, are often flawed ... and focusing on what IF robs us of time in the present.    learn to enjoy the time you have with them and  think about what you can share with each other...

A loved one dying is always a big deal and it will affect your life. It’s sad but everyone dies someday. I recommend that you make some great memories with your parents so that you and your parents can enjoy themselves and be happy.
