Anxiety and how it holds me back
Hey everyone,
I’ve been struggling with anxiety for as long as I can remember and I’m so tired of it holding me back. The hardest thing for me is knowing that I missed out and am still missing out on so many opportunities, because I am simply to scared. I want to try new things, meet new people, go to parties and try out the sport that I love, but something inside of me says that I won’t succeed, that I will fail and embarrass myself. When I talk to people around me they say that I’m being dramatic and should just get over myself and they are right, I know that, but I just can’t help it. I don’t know how to change that feeling and I wish I could.
I have the same struggle. You want something and when your finally ready it's like someone is holding you back from being who your meant to be. The best thing I could say is to try and force yourself in the situations. It's hard
I'm still doing it myself.

I think it's helpful to analyze your anxiety. I know sometimes we can feel very intimidated by opportunities that challenge us to skip out of our comfort zone. It's normal and I go through the same struggle too. But sometimes these fears are created by our own imagination; the real situation might not turn out as bad. One thing I tell myself when I'm scared to catch an opportunity is to ask myself whether I will regret giving up this chance in the future. Sometimes the outcome is worth us overcoming the fear and trying things that we don't want to.
@Pxvxrd28 always remember: overcoming anxiety is a process, and it's okay to take small steps. Instead of overwhelming yourself with large goals, break them down into smaller, more manageable steps. This can make it easier to approach new experiences without feeling paralyzed by anxiety. If your anxiety is significantly impacting your daily life, seeking professional help is crucial, you don't have to face this alone <3
Thank you so much for your respond to my thread <3 To be honest I think I in fact do need professional help, but also in this decision anxiety plays a big role. I’m a minor so I need to tell my parents about my whole situation and I don’t want them to feel like they did something wrong and tbh I never really talk to them about my feelings. I love them and all, but I’m just not good in talking about how I feel so I never did and now it’s just normal that I don’t tell them. The other thing is that a lot of my friends actually are in therapy and I feel like their struggle is so much worse than mine and so many people need professional help much more than I do and getting a therapist in my area is hard, because the appointments are only limited. I know you shouldn’t compare your own struggles with other people’s, but I just don’t want to “steal” a place in therapy from someone who needs it more than I do.
Seeing you are so young. I would advice u speak to your parents. U only have 1 life. Don't waste it.
It's sad to hear that you're so stressed. I have the same thing but I'm trying to overcome myself. When I read https://betterme.world/articles/back-calisthenics/ and started exercising, I started to stress less and feel more confident. With each workout, I became better and more confident in myself. Find something for yourself that will make you more confident!
