Anxiety effecting quality of life

Occasionally, I have these surges in anxiety, that I can't quite understand? It happens occasionally but I end up having a mental breakdown everytime. (It could be over the smallest thing possible, like a sudden thought I had recently was “what if when I move to Britain and can't pick up on their accents because they talk too fast?” though I have amazing English and listening skills it's quite strange really)

I'm actually going through a rough patch, this year, it hasn't been the easiest for all the academic struggles I've been facing, stress, hypertension, worries and anxiety has been here all the way. Somedays are harder than others, it's either I think everything is too important everything matters or nothing matters at all... It's a struggle.

I hope someday I can be at ease, and spend my days without so much inner torment.

It sounds like you're carrying a lot right now, and those sudden waves of anxiety make everything feel even heavier. You're doing your best, even when your mind gets caught in worries that seem small but feel overwhelming. It's completely valid to feel torn between extremes of caring too much or feeling numb. I hear how deeply you long for peace, and I believe you deserve to find it !

@Snoozingcat

I'm sorry you're struggling.  I completely understand how you're feeling.  Once you start down the "what if" road it is soooo difficult to stop and make a turn and go somewhere else.  Some people say you need to sit with the feelings you're feeling instead of trying to run from them because they actually will lessen as you take the power away from them.  Some people say you should acknowledge the feeling and then turn away from it.

I don't know what the answer is.  I've tried both ways - they work temporarily but no for very long.  The thing that helps me most is by journaling and by talking about my problems.  Therapy, friends, here in 7C.  There's something about writing everything down and then reading over it that allows you to see it in a different light.  And being able to talk to a friend - or to come here and find support - it's amazingly helpful.  It makes you feel that you're not so alone with your problems.

And you aren't - none of us are alone here.
