Anxiety over hanging out with friends
Am I the only one who gets anxiety every time I hang out with my friends?? Even if it's my closest friends I still get anxiety
@toughWest6250 sorry to hear you're affected by this West, anxiety can be very challenging. Do you know why you might be feeling this way around your friends? Is it to do with feeling you might 'say the wrong thing' or a more general fear that you'll lose them as a friend? How do you manage when interacting with strangers? Anxiety becomes easier to navigate once we're able to identify why we feel anxious.
Idk when I hangout with my close friends I get anxiety prior to hanging out that I can't exactly pin point. I think my mind makes me get anxious about the hangout going wrong because of me. But when my friends invite their own friends to a group hangout I get extreme anxiety. Because I don't know my friend's friend I'll stress and overthink the hangout. I'll worry that they won't like me and it will be awkward.
@toughWest6250 it sounds as though there are effectively two reasons for your anxiety, West - one is your worry that things will go wrong because of you; the other is essentially anxiety around making a good impression on new people, which is a very common feeling. On the first point, why do you feel things would go wrong owing to something you say or do? Was there a time in the past when this happened? Otherwise, are there any other grounds for worrying that people won't like you? Sometimes, it can take a little bit of unravelling to see why we're anxious. hii, and i completely understand, i get anxiety from anything that ins't being in my room. social anxieties are rough, and i have noticed with myself that i get more anxiety when i'm going through changes, or when anything is unclear or new. have you noticed any patterns in your anxieties? it might help to understand why you feel anxious so you can fix the problem at its source.
anyway, lots of love, zoe <3
