Can’t Sleep, flashbacks

Hi all, struggling to sleep because when I do put my head down at night I see flashbacks of moments that traumatised me as a child.

I’m struggling with this a lot and I need some advice. Definitely made an appointment with a psychologist for next week and have a therapist I will see end of the month.

At the moment financially I cannot go for therapy to talk to someone so I’m hoping to just share and connect with someone here as a buddy.

I’m in a isolated situation in my life where I don’t really have many people I can talk to and I have many worries and I cannot share with anyone.

I don’t have the best support system.

@itsthisgirlcrazy I'm sorry you're having trouble with sleeping. It's hard when we need our rest and the past invades.

I've been having trouble with this myself. I've been trying a few different things. Grounding and keeping a calm night time routine. Make your bedroom a safe space. Little things like fairy lights help keep shadows out of corners. Stuffies help comfort your inner child. Remind yourself where you are and that you're safe (talk out loud if it helps) Do relaxing things before bed. Read or listen to calming music (Binaural beats might help) Be patient with yourself. Finding things that help take time. And what works one night might not work the next. So it helps to have a few different things to try.
I'm glad you made an appointment with a psychologist and see a therapist at the end of the month. I hope with time the flashbacks stop and you can start to get better sleep
