Fear of public speaking / social anxiety 🔇
My social anxiety has gotten worse recently
I constantly humiliate myself in class when I get picked on by my teachers because I tense up, sweat, stutter and feel like I can't breathe or swallow. I cannot express how terrible I sound when I answer questions.
Even when I prepare to answer the question, I feel like I can't stop those physical reactions of anxiety. I've tried taking deep breaths but it does not help.
It has gotten so bad I've started to fear/dislike some subjects because I associate them with me embarasaing myself.
I cant concentrate in lessons either because I'm always on edge and anticipating being picked on.
Does anyone know how I can overcome this because it's literally taking over my life
@WitherStorm Thank you for opening up and writing this post, Storm. Appreciate you. It sounds like your social anxiety is really weighing you down and making it difficult to fully participate in class. That must be so frustrating. It feels difficult to feel so anxious in class where you expect to be picked on. How are you currently feeling as you think about having to go back to those situations that trigger your anxiety?
