Generalized Anxiety is ruining my life
Hi everyone!
i have always dealt with depression, since i was 9, over the years i got used to it, worked around it..it wasn't pleasant but at least i was still going out, traveling and meeting people.
But in 2021 i developed GAD , at first i was still able to go out but now? It has been almost 12 months since i last left my house.
i live 20-30 minutes away from the city, the only way to get there is by car/uber but everytime i try to get into one i start panicking and throwing up.
this has affected every part of my life.
My job, my relationship and my depression.
i tried multiple medications, that only made things worse, i also went through multiple therapists and still nothing.
No one gets it, people tell me "just get out" but even with all the breathing techniques in the world i can't control it.
everytime i have a panic attack i look like im dying, i hyperventilate, throw up, i shake a lot...
i just want my life back

I'm sorry to read how you have been dealing with depression for so long. And how you are now having to cope with anxiety as well. Those panic attacks sound truely miserable. And I can totally see how this is affecting your life. It sounds like you feel quite trapped by it.
I've never had panic attacks, but I have dealt with anxiety. And one of the techniques I used was one for panic attacks and it really helped me. I so hope that you too find what works for you.
A big thing for me was really taking things one step at a time. And not trying to achieve too much. I wonder if going to the city can be broken down into stages, such as just getting outdoors and standing by cars or sitting in a car with the door open just outside your house. I don't know. It depends what exactly you are scared of. Traffic, people, letting friends you are hoping to meet down? There's lots of possibilities. Maybe if you can identify what it is, then that will help you develop a plan for dealing with it?
But I hear that you have tried lots of things already, so maybe you have already tried things like this? It definitely must be very frustrating.
I hate that you are feeling this way! I’m exactly the same way right now & and I feel like I’ve let it get out of control. I stay home and inside so much that when I do see the outside world I’ll start to have out of body experiences such as depersonalization and derealization. There are days when I feel as if I can do it but as soon as I try I start to panic severely and just break down and cry and have to have someone with me almost at all times. I know we can get better, just trying to figure out a way to get better sooner rather than later is the challenge and is what’s discouraging. :( I hope you find peace and get well soon!
