Health anxiety
I really do need someone to talk to, I keep having this constant fear and tightness in my chest. I’ve been having physical symptoms and my anxiety is getting worse
I’m really sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time with your health anxiety 😟 Dealing with physical symptoms on top of anxiety can be a lot to handle. It's important to take care of yourself and reach out for support when you need it. Talking to someone you trust or a mental health professional might help.
Just know that you're not alone, and there are people who can help you get through this challenging time.

The truth couldn't have said it better!
@tripsbaby hiiii, member with health ocd here. Having symptoms is the worst, but you are not alone, in fact there has been a thread about it recently where we are all in the same boat there, linking it here for you if you want to join us 😊

First and foremost, try to see if there is any other reason behind it, i usually have a lot of problems solved by realising i sat in a very very bad position. Maybe you ate fast or exercised a few days ago and it is just muscle tiredness. If you find a plausible reason, address it. Maybe take a gentle stretch. Lay on your back breathing. Anything goes. If nothing works from this, i like to do a screen test. It is done by taking your phone/pc/tab and entertaining yourself. If your symptoms get better upon redirecting your attention, it is a great indication that it is indeed anxiety.
Also, it helps me to do a reality check of what i think will happen vs what would most likely happen if i´m really having a serious problem. With most serious issues, you don´t just die from one sec to other, and there is a lot of steps in between, so it is a goood thing to realise that between i have a symprom and i die is usually a lot of mid steps, that involves calling an ambulance and a team of highly skilled professionals to help you. Some people even go through an entire fake scenario step by step in their mind of what would most realistically happen if ... I personally don´t do that, as the other strategies are usually enough, but i heard about someone who has a health ocd and does this, so maybe it will help you too.
I also found that my health ocd gets worse when passive challanges in my life outweight the active ones. Passive ones are stuff you don´t choose to face, and is mostly out of your control, like exams, work etc. Stuff you really don´t want to deal with and didn´t choose them but you have to deal with it anyway. Active challenges are those you choose, like learning a language, going to the gym, telling yourself that today, you will be cleaning the kitchen a bit. Anything that you set for yourself and choose to deal with it despite you wouldn´t have to. So maybe if you look at passive to active challanges it could have some interesting results, at least this is something that i personally do or know about, hope you will find something interesting there 😊
@sadcat13 sorry for that link malfunction in the end, it leads to the same post tho
sighs in pasting it once more, hopefully without malfunctions this time

@sadcat13 I’ve had health anxiety for a decade. It’s awful.
@pinkWalker7121 me too, having it for ages and it is horrible. I feel you there 🌻
@tripsbaby Hi, I wanted to make a response to say that I recommend finding videos on breathing techniques, face massages, any kind of exercise whether its yoga, aerobics, dance fitness, whatever kind of exercise you like to get your body moving.
We are in control of our anxiety and if we allow ourselves to do the things that we know will lessen how we feel, so that we can feel better. We will have a better understanding of how to deal with our anxiety in the future. It is also important to remember to not allow yourself to panic. During anxiety we want to panic because we are feeling symptoms that we normally don't experience on a regular basis, so our natural instinct is too freak out . BUT DO NOT PANIC. panicking actually can cause us to feel worse, can create cold or hot sweats and it also heightens the anxiety, to where it takes longer to calm and relax itself.
so yeah. I hope this helps :]
@tripsbaby

@tripsbaby I can talk to you if you would like Trips. I have the same symptoms, as I deal with chronic panic attacks and anxiety. I get really tight in my chest and I feel like I cant breathe. It is extremely scary. It is the worst going through it when you are alone too.
@tripsbaby
I had been take to the ER many times and fainted many times too when my anxiety got worst. Take a deep breath first, that's what they teach me to do. Just clear your mind of any thoughts.
