I feel so embarrassed right now...
I feel so embarrassed by cancelling online session with my psychologist because i cancelled it sooi many times because i thought that the problems that I had were really serious, but then turned out that it was not so serious... Like, it was just my anxiety or something like that and right now i calmed down and now I don't know what to do... I had anxiety that I'm a bad person but then, i did a metaphor cards reading (those cards works with your subconscious, that is, you do a reading and when you see a picture, you need to explain what you see, what you feel about this picture and what associations it gives you and etc, and what associations it gives you and thoughts and etc, then that is the answer. Like your subconscious answers your questions. For example, If you see in picture tense, fear or something like that, then that's the answer, that is, you feel stressed, tense and scared. So turns out that nothing is wrong with me and i need to be careful with my words because my inner world are different or something like that? I don't remember but i remember that I need to ne careful with my words and leave myself alone, and turns out that only i can pour the energy in my inner world and I'm a good person and should take care of myself.) and now i don't know what to do because i already got rid of a problem... Like, i already know that everything is fine and i just got really scared and anxious and i just needed to get rid of it by myself because I have the ability to do it... So... I don't know what to do or what to say to my psychologist... I feel so embarrassed...
Hey @affectionateOwl4692, Thank you for sharing this, it sounds like you’ve been carrying some embarrassment and confusion around the situation, and I’m really glad you reached out.
What you described is actually something a lot of people with anxiety go through. When your emotions spike, everything feels urgent and overwhelming, and then when you calm down, it’s easy to look back and feel embarrassed or like you “made a fuss.” That doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. It just means your anxiety was loud in the moment.
Therapists see this all the time, people cancel because they’re anxious, unsure, overwhelmed, or because things shift quickly. It just means you’re human and navigating your mental health the best you can.
It also makes sense that the metaphor cards helped you feel more grounded. Sometimes having a moment of reflection or insight can calm the anxiety enough that the problem feels less intense.
If you’re unsure what to say to your psychologist, you don’t need a perfect explanation. You can share a brief message about what was happening and how you are feeling now.
Therapists are used to this. They won’t judge you or think you’re wasting their time. In fact, talking about the embarrassment and the anxiety around cancelling could be really helpful, it’s part of your experience, and it’s something they can support you with.
You don’t have to hide it or pretend nothing happened. You also don’t need to apologise over and over. Just be honest in whatever way feels comfortable.
Sending you hugs 💜
