I have a lot of family anxiety
My family is chaotic a bit, and I just came back home from graduating from college. It’s too loud and things are being thrown and everyone is on high energy, and no one seems to be mindful of me fr, rather than my mom asking me am I okay, because I’m quiet. I’m here for a year until I start law school. I disassociate with them too, because if I don’t, and I say something that could start something, I feel like I’m in a crossroads. I don’t fit in anymore and I’m sick of not having any peace anywhere I am.
Hello. I understand you feel the way you do because you appreciate togetherness and seeing your family in disarray breaks you. I'm truly sorry that you have to go through that. Just know that you are not alone. You have done well by stopping by. Do you mind talking about it a little further, like the possible cause and what you're willing to do about this situation from your end?
First of all, congratulations on graduating! It's so unfair that instead of celebrating, you have to protect your peace by staying quiet and isolating yourself. When family dynamics are that loud, your silence isn't 'nothing'—it's a survival strategy, but it’s incredibly exhausting. Try to take it one day at a time and build small, physical boundaries where you can. Keep your eyes on the prize: law school is your next step toward the independence you deserve. This year is just a stepping stone, not your permanent reality. Lean on this community whenever it gets too heavy.
