I just want to go.

I just want to go & explore. I want to finally see the rest of the world or at least the rest of the US & not worry about money ever again!

I know I must sound ridiculous but that's what I feel.

I'm so tired of the money system & how it can hold you back. I'm tired of trying to save up my pto, that doesn't fill up very much or fast, & feeling like I can only use it for possible sick days or one event during the year. Again same with money. I'm not really living! And when I try to get the excitement of maybe going out, that's when the Anxiety beast decides to bite.

It nearly cost me my marriage. My husband tries to support me & tell me we'll be fine, nothing has happened & to stop worrying til something does. Today he did admit he was close to being done with me bc of it. He says he understand it when something does happen. Just not when nothing has happened. Now I feel like I just need to hide it better. I don't want to drive him crazy &/or away. I just want to go away with him & feel completely safe again. I do have another therapy appointment in 3 weeks. I hope one day I'll feel safe & free & breathe the sweet air of living again.

I hope you find the therapy to be helpful.  Life is so full of variables, it’s hard not to be anxious.  I used to have more anxiety than I do now.  One thing I did was to set really short term goals.  For example, “can I avoid feeling anxious for the next ten minutes?”  I gradually increased my periods of time until I got to around 30 minutes of feeling relatively calm.  My anxiety was episodic, so 30 minutes was just about enough time that the anxiety wave would diminish.

I also meditate every evening now.  Initially I started with “progressive relaxation” (Google it), but now I can just sit back and within seconds be “in the zone” of relaxation.

I get not wanting to worry about money all the time.  Maybe I was lucky (?) to grow up in poverty.  We were evicted several times, went without enough to eat sometimes, got the electricity and phone cut off frequently, and usually would end up going a week or two without heat in the winter.

Where does luck come in?  I’m not sure that’s the best word to describe it, but as a little kid, I realized I couldn’t control my dad’s drinking, my mom’s schizophrenia or our financial situation.  The “luck” came in the form of learning how to appreciate the good days and suspend worry about the inevitable bad days that were coming.

I certainly hope if you have “bad days,” they’re not as bad as ours were, but if you’re human, you’ll have some days better than others.  You may have financial setbacks, or some other disturbing issue.  You might say that the not so good days add value to the better days.

I doubt if it’s all been smooth sailing for you up to this point, yet here you are, surviving admirably!  I believe you have what it takes to continue doing so.

With all that said, therapy is still a good idea, if only to get a professional’s take on the best strategy in your case.

And my gosh, the details of what you dealt with as a child just broke my heart. I'm glad your doing better now & I hope & pray you keep moving. I'm very glad you're here.

I don't know where you stand on faith, so I hope this doesn't offend you but God Bless you.
