My Dilema or Doomsday
Hi to all. Since 2015 I have been suffering from Anxiety and Panic Attacks. I have been prescribed ever since some meds to coupe with my symptoms.
I would say, I was somehow better, I finished my bachelor degree and started my professional career.
My family was all for me. My mom and grandparents. They supported me in every aspect. Mom used to take me for a ride when I had my panic attacks. If I need to go to the hospital they were there to take me. If I needed to speak, they would always listen, no matter the day and time.
Until… I started to lose them to death. Covid, Cancer, and Heart Attack. Took them away from me. All of them in less than 4 years. Now take care of my brother who has Asperger and other health conditions.
We had to let go family members and literally start anew. We both live in the same hometown and it is hard to ignore that I have family members around my neighborhood and we don’t talk.
I feel alone… I work from home… and to be honest, even if I talk with some of my aunts from my mother’s side, I will still feel alone.
I don’t know what else to do.
It is a shame you lost those closest to you in such a short period of time. That is very unfortunate and hard to hear.
You have shown great responsibility in finishing your bachelor's degree and starting a professional career. You are brave and compassionate to care for your brother. That requires a lot of sacrifices that could not have been easy to make.
It is alright to feel alone, and good that you have the courage to share this admission with those who you do not personally know. The answers you seek might not yet be clear, but you have presented yourself as an individual capable of withstanding a fair degree of hardship. That is a good start.
Were we having a session together, I would ask the following questions.
- What do you consider a successful social interaction? Is sharing a genuine smile and greeting with a stranger you pass on the street enough to make you feel accepted?
- What is something you could point to as proof that you care for yourself? It can be something as simple as brushing your teeth, washing your hair, or getting out of bed every morning.
- What normally triggers a panic attack, and how do you manage them?
