Scared to let myself feel?

Um.. hi. I have never posted on a thread or a community before, so my apologies, I am new to this.

I have been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks for the past few years and was really starting to see some improvement and progress recently. However, in the past year one of my parents was diagnosed with cancer and the other had a massive stroke.

I have been trying to be as supportive and strong as I can for my parents, but that has forced me to start dismissing my emotions and bottling them up. This has been working so far, but within the past week I have had so many moments where I am so close to just breaking down that I have had to leave work. I want so bad to let all these emotions out and give myself a chance to actually deal with them, but it feels like so much now that I’m scared to let that wall down. Whenever I think about letting myself feel, I start to panic..

I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of that. It truly is a lot. It is okay to have feelings and you need to let them out. I know the fear of panic and it sucks but it will only get worse if you don't deal with it.

It's ok to feel this way. You're going through a lot.

My father will have open heart surgery, next week and I'm scared. I'm here because of this. I wanted to talk to someone. I noticed that prioritizing talking with close relatives has helped me a lot.
