Store Bought Chocolate Milk
Hi everyone,
*Disclaimer I am not a medical professional. I am sharing what works for me. Proceed at your own risk.
I accidentally discovered a biochemical hack that completely shuts down my severe OCD rumination loops, and I wanted to share it in case it helps someone else.
A few weeks ago at work, I drank a cup of leftover store-bought chocolate milk. Within minutes, the intense rumination spiral I was trapped in just stopped. My face relaxed, my eyes softened, and I actually smiled. The relief lasted for a few hours. Through trial and error, I found out the science of why this works: It MUST be pre-made, store-bought chocolate milk. Candy, chocolate bars, and powder mixes (like Ovaltine) do not work. The Secret: The liquid glucose must be fully emulsified and married to the milk's lipids (fats). This structure gives the brain instant glucose fuel to stop the panic, while the fats slow down digestion so you don't get a sugar crash.
Note: If you make it at home, you must let it sit in the fridge for a long time to properly emulsify.
My Nighttime Routine for Prevention: To keep my anxiety and OCD at bay during the night so I can sleep, I now drink half a cup of store-bought chocolate milk every evening. I also use chamomile tea for extra support. Combining the two creates a massive, calming effect.
Has anyone else noticed that specific food or drink help quiet their intrusive thoughts?
Hi @JLWells ✨
Thank you for sharing! I haven’t really found something that works - I try chamomile too at night and sometimes seven blossoms tea, it helps me relax but sometimes the thoughts are still there…
Sending you lots of good vibes ✨
