Suddenly Having Panic Attacks?

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on what could be potentially be happening to me? About a month ago - out of nowhere - I have my very first panic attack that spanned almost a whole night. I had to call the emergency services because I thought I was in critical health when, unbeknownst to me, it was actually a panic attack.

I thought that was the last time I’d have one, until then it happened again two weeks ago. And then it happened again two days ago, and just now.

I’m definitely going to contact my doctor tomorrow morning but I just thought since it’s 3am here and I have nothing else to do besides catastrophise, maybe it’d be nice to hear other peoples’ thoughts and opinions on my experience? And maybe hoping I’m not alone?

When I had my first ever panic attack, it was caused by dreading seeing a guy who had hurt me emotionally. I had never had a panic attack, so I thought I was dying...

@prm I understand that it can be overwhelming and scary when panic attacks start happening out of nowhere. It can feel like losing contol and it is normal to feel worried when it feels that your body actions are out of control or not making sense. You are definitly not alone in this.

Panic attacks can come on suddenly, even if you have never had one before especially if your body is in a state of high anxiety. It is great that you are reaching out to doctor as that is really important step to get clarity on this. They can help you figure out what’s going on and offer strategies to help manage or prevent them.

But also know that many people experience panic attacks, they are more common than you might think. You are not alone in this. Talking out to some can also make you feel less isolated. Try to remid yourself that it is okay.

I hope you get the support your need from your doctor. Take care of yourself :)
