Work anxiety

Hello,

I am here here. I joined mostly because I feel like everyone around me does not relate to how I feel and was hoping to find some tips here.

Any tips on how to deal with work anxiety? Sometimes I find it hard to completely turn off work mode because of it.

So I was wondering if anyone dealt with this before and how they worked to improve it .

Thank you!

Hi,

I completely understand how you feel. Work anxiety can be really difficult to switch off from, especially when your mind keeps staying in work mode even after the day ends.

One thing that can really help is intentionally making time for yourself outside of work. During that time, try to fully disconnect for a bit like putting your phone on DND if possible and do things you genuinely enjoy, whether that’s spending time with family, watching something comforting, resting, or just doing hobbies you like.

Things like replying only until a certain time, not constantly checking messages, and reminding yourself that work does not have to occupy your mind 24/7 can slowly help over time.

Another thing that may help is planning small things to look forward to whenever possible like weekend outings, trips, meeting friends, trying a new café, or even simple relaxing plans at home. Having something outside of work that excites you can make the routine feel a little lighter and give your mind something positive to focus on.

It may not improve immediately, but small boundaries and giving yourself personal time can genuinely make a difference. You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way.

I feel like everyone around me snaps out of work mode but I am here feeling overwhelmed and scared of what might happen while I'm off.

I find it especially worse during vacation. I start to think what If I messed up and someone had to deal with it because of me. Or start to create scenarios that might happen. Not sure why I'm like this.

It's gotten worse these past few months mostly because I work from. But I will take your advise and work on setting clear boundaries on when to disconnect from work.

I believe it will be after many attempts until I find what works to calm my busy mind.

Thank you.

I understand. A lot of people who are responsible or care deeply about doing things correctly end up carrying work mentally even when they’re away from it.

And when you work from home, it can get even harder because there’s no real separation between work space and rest space, so your mind stays alert longer than it should.

The fact that you’re aware of it and want to work on boundaries is already a really good step.

I hope you’re able to be a little gentler with yourself while figuring out what works for you. And you’re definitely not the only person who experiences this.

Take care.

Everyone is different. I feel like each day I have a rough plan of what needs to be done, essentials and non..

But I just can't power through without feeling overwhelmed so I break up the day, with music, or a game.

I don't know how many breaks you get but for each one, can you just savour the moment? Whether it's a chat with a colleague, a drink, a snack, reading..

Remind yourself you earned this downtime. You've worked hard and now it's time to kickback, blow off some steam and just chill.

Switch off your brain, say everything is at hand and relish the time for yourself, something you are excited about doing/discussing...

I think it might be thougher for me because I work from home. So to chat with my colleagues I need to actively be on my computer.

I believe this is why I'm having a hard time disconnecting from work. Because I feel like I'm always at work.

Music might be a good ally to help power through the day. Will definitely search some calming playlists for tomorrow!

@idrathernotsvyit Ah ok fair enough, I guess then keep your work office as your professional place/room and then wander to another, to unwind.

There's podcasts and comedy and I personally like asmr for relaxing. You'll find what works for you :)

If you have a garden, that could always be your serene place, change of scenery, fresh air etc..
