anxiety
Hi! I started having anxiety last year when the public transport that I was riding in was speeding up in a rainy weather. Everything went downhill from there. I started fearing everything (taking buses, riding on a ship, taking flights). I will be flying next week, but my anxiety has been kicking in everytime I think about it. A few “what ifs” have been up in my mind lately. I have been searching for things I need to do but my lost resort would probably taking sleeping pills during the flight.

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with anxiety related to transportation. It's completely understandable that such experiences can leave a lasting impact. It's good you're actively seeking solutions for your upcoming flight. While I'm not a mental health professional, I can offer a few suggestions that might help ease your anxiety.
Practice deep breathing exercises to help calm your nerves. Techniques like inhaling slowly, holding your breath, and then exhaling slowly can be effective. Bring along things that can distract you during the flight, such as a good book, music, podcasts, or movies. Keeping your mind occupied can sometimes lessen anxiety. Try visualizing positive outcomes and focusing on enjoyable aspects of the trip rather than dwelling on "what ifs." Imagining a successful and calm flight might help shift your mindset. Let the cabin crew know about your anxiety. They are trained to assist passengers in various situations and may provide additional support or reassurance. If possible, consider gradual exposure to the modes of transportation that trigger anxiety. Start with shorter journeys and gradually increase the distance as you become more comfortable.
Remember, it's okay to seek support, and there are resources available to help you manage and overcome anxiety. Safe travels!
