panic attack vent

this has always been something i have struggled with when i started dating my ldr boyfriend. separation anxiety and the fear of him not understanding me is what leads me to have these panic attacks when we argue. some things he says that triggers me are: "you're overreacting" "you're being childish" "stop throwing a tantrum". this all hurts

i try to recognize these triggers but it's not easy trying to get someone to understand a panic attack when they've not experienced it the way i do.

weird thing is, when i cant prevent it from happening i lose completely lose my memory. as in, i don't remember much of what i was thinking when i'm experiencing a panic attack. i just remember not being able to breathe. whenever i recall back to my time with panic attacks it's almost like i don't remember what happened. can anyone else relate? or lmk why i keep forgetting what happened?

@ipoopcats

You forget because it's a coping mechanism.

And sadly people who don't suffer it, like your bf, won't ever fully understand.

It's important to have an honest, calm conversation where you can explain it to him 🥰

@Amanda84

i tried to explain it over and over but it gets tiring as he's not the kind of person to ponder about things like this.

@ipoopcats Panic attacks are your body's way of protecting yourself. Please don't let anyone make you feel bad for them

@breanac19

i wish i could just be cold and emotionless. like i can turn of a switch whenever things get bad.
