Let us know more about you, what brings you to 7 Cups! We are glad you are here!
Hi, I was diagnosed with GAD officially in August, but am pretty sure I have had it my whole life. I grew up a shy kid with parents who had big expectations of me. While I love my parents and am grateful for their support, I can't help but think that part of the way I was raised predisposed me to being anxious. I was always worried about making them proud of me and meeting their standards I don't think I ever developed how to do those things for myself. Now that I'm 23 and in medical school, their dreams for me are becoming a reality, but I am now the one constantly feeling like I should be better.
Since I've been in medical school I've met a wonderful guy, but being in relationships has never been the best for me. I have this weird mentality where I feel like because I could lose him at any moment I want to soak in as many good times as I can, and as soon as there is something slightly "off" (or I think that there is) I soon go spiraling into anxiety meltdown mode. From there, everything would set me off. He didn't know how to help me when it got really bad and ended up helping me be hospitalized for a couple of days. We broke up briefly after the hospital but ended up getting back together with hopes that my anxiety wouldn't consume us anymore and with the intentions of easing back into it. Since then it's been a day to day struggle to just figure out what normal is for me again.
@soojm Hey there. I can definitely understand how you feel, as we've been through similar situations. I hope you have found the comfort and help you need from 7 cups. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me :)
@soojm Hi, I have similar problems with my relationship, and it's causing me to get very angry and doubt everything he says. I'm so sorry about your situation, and I wish the best for you!
Hi my name is Justin I have anxiety of many problems do to childhood hood abuse because of my mother if anyone can help me please feel free to contact me
Hey guys. Umm, I've had general anxiety order since I started high school, and PTSD since my sophomore year. I'm not really sure how to deal, and people I talk to don't get it. Help?
@makaylablake73 Hello, it sounds like you've been dealing with these issues for a long time now. It must be really hard to cope with it every day when the people you talk to don't understand.
There are plenty of listeners here who are willing to help, so just press 'connect to a listener' to send out a general request. If you search for listeners and select the category as 'traumatic experiences', you may be able to narrow things down to somebody who feels that they can provide better support for people with PTSD. Feel free to just send a message directly to any listener on the list, but don't be worried if you don't get a response straight away, you can always send out another message or a general request. Alternatively, the self help guide titled 'traumatic experiences' is specifically designed to help people with PTSD, and the anxiety one may also be useful. I'm really glad you've decided to come here and I hope you can find someone who understands you a bit better :)
Hey guys. My name is Pierce and I struggle with empathy issues and depression. So far this site has helped me so much! <3 you all
@Pierce1337 hey! I'm glad to hear 7 cups has been a help to you! I hope you stay here awhile.
Hi my name is Justin I am suffering from anxiety because of child abuse because of my mother I have flash back to the abuse everyday if I here loud noises or people fighting
@Stout8 Hi Justin, it's good to have you here. It's awful that your mother treated you so poorly when you were a child, and that you are suffering so much because of it. It looks like you have already been speaking with some listeners which is great! I hope that things start improving for you so you feel more able to cope with your anxiety in the future, but don't be afraid to reach out for extra support whenever you need it!
Hi, I'm Trisja and I get scared easily and get panic attacks and it's crazy 'cause the reasons why I get scared are so irrational and brr it's hard
Hi, I'm Celeste and I guess this is my latest attempt at figuring out how to deal with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more. Depression hit me hard 7 years ago and anxiety maybe 5 years ago, and I feel like they've destroyed my life.
Hi. This is my first day on 7 Cups so I'm still trying to learn the ropes. I haven't been officially diagnosed with anxiety, but there's no denying it's what I've been experiencing every day for as long as I can remember. I've only recently (within the last few years) started becoming more self-aware and doing research/asking questions about anxiety. I experienced my first (and worst) anxiety/panic attack last summer. That pretty much confirmed what I had been thinking. It definitely takes a toll on my day to day life. Has this site helped anyone significantly? If so, how?
@tinykittypaws Hey there. Welcome to 7 cups! I hope you can find the support you need here. There's the anxiety support group chat, or an anxiety self - help guide you can go through as well! If you prefer one-on-one you can always message me or browse listeners and search by keyword, those who have anxiety listed on their profile :)
Hi everyone, My severe anxiety started at the beginning of this year and the physical symptoms were so overwhelming that I kept ending up in the ER thinking I was dying of a heart attack. Still nothing has been able to completely convince me that I am safe from some horrible health issue, although I thinks getting the ultrasound of my heart that my cardiologist just ordered for me will help. I have trouble breathing and have a lot of pain in my chest and elsewhere. I can't get to sleep very easily because my body will wake me up with a startle or a full blown panic attack. I'm super sensitive to medication and it scares me too. My life situation is what is causing so much anxiety, especially living with and being dependent upon an abusive person, and I know that if I could change it I could get well fast. Right now what keeps me sane is talking to people on this site and in meetups. Movement therapy has been helpful too. Also I try to keep my focus on my plans for the future and the actions I can take right now to improve my situation. I have a lot of empathy for people who struggle with anxiety and panic attacks because I know it can be one of the most debilitating, dis-empowering and nightmarish things to go through. I thank my Higher self for every moment of relief and every step closer to being well again.
Hello everyone! I go by lovely or Whisper, but you can also call me by my real name, Sabaa. I have been a listener here for over a month now, and I already love the site for what it offers. I was diagnosed with anxiety during my first year in college, and I especially have social anxiety. However, given my previous experiences, I have had anxiety for much longer. I have come to terms with my condition and take medication for it. Still, it's a struggle, but one step at a time, right? I am always happy to listen to anyone who needs someone to hear him or her out. :)
