Hi I am new here. Im trying anything and everything to get myself back at a stable place. I have a great life but I have a constant battle in my head.

I had a terrible panic attack this morning at work. I start to feel like Im having a hot flash and my chest feels fluttery it then makes me nauseous. I usually end up getting sick. Does this happen to anyone else?? Makes me feel crazy and like I am helpless to my own mind.

@piecefulzen I get the same feeling. Then I start to panic that Im going to have a heart attack and the cycle goes on. What do you do to stop it? Ive tried breathing techniques but they only work sometimes

Hi there

I know how you feel. It is so scary and frightening and exhausting - physically and mentally. I used to have really severe panic attacks that would last a long time and would reaccur constantly throughout the day - that was me at my worst. But I managed to get a hold on them eventually and now I very rarely rarely have them . So there is a way out, please don't think that you're going crazy or you're helpless. I promise you you are not - though it feels like you are at the time. It will end and you will get through this and you will live your life without panic attacks.

Is there any particular situation or environment that triggers them? Is it always at work?

I found that mine were triggered by lack of sleep and/or alcohol and usually occured at work.

I never saw a counsellor/psychologist about my panic attacks and I wish I'd had. I think it will really help.

My theory about panic attacks were that they were occuring because there was something that I was doing or not doing in my life that was causing me anxiety. Are there any changes that you could make in your life to alleviate stress? Is there some problem you are not confronting? I look at panic attacks as the body and the mind's way of telling me there is something not right and some changes I need to make.

I hope this is helpful to you

Remember you're not alone

Take care xx

Everything youre experiencing is the exact same thing I am going through. Ive been having panic attacks every day one after another throughout the whole day. Its really frustrating. Its gotten to the point where I stopped eating. I also get super dizzy and nauseous. My heart feels like its beating super fast and I start to sweat. The worse part is the overwhelming sense of fear that I get ontop of it which only makes it worse. Mine have been lasting several hours. Im always in a state of fight or flight and my throat is always so tight it actually has started to hurt. I personally cant wait to overcome this. I know you will too. Youre not alone and I find comfort in knowing Im not alone either. I have recently developed this 3 months ago but the panick attacks didnt get so severe till now.

I have had two panic attacks so far, all within the last month. I have never experienced anything like that before, and it really scared me. The first time, I was walking with a group of friends to the subway station. I was on my way to an after school class with one of my companions, and the rest were heading in the same direction. Once in a while, I experience what I choose to call my social battery running out. This is when I feel that being with others is too much pressure, and I know from experience that when this happens I tend to lash out. So I made this fact clear to my friends, and I decided to walk faster so as to avoid interaction. I started hyperventilating, and I was fidgeting with a pen in my fingers obsessively. I had read some articles about panic attacks before, so I identified it eventually, but it didn't fully go away until a day or so later. Then it happened again a few days ago, when all I was doing was watching a movie at school on a rainy day. I felt my social battery running out again, so I sat farther away from my friends, but I started to have a panic attack. I had only told one friend about it the first time, because I knew she had had panic attacks before as well. She was not with me then, but another close friend of mine didn't understand what was happening, accused me of being rude and sulky, asked me if I was mad at her, and stormed off when I only gave short, clipped answers. I didn't know how to tell her what I was experiencing, and I didn't really want to, but her talking to me, especially getting mad, made the attack a lot worse. I texted the friend whom I had previously confided in, and she came downstairs. I told her, still panicky, about what had happened, and I started crying. The other friend found us in the hallway, and I had to tell her, even though I didn't want to. She sort of understood, and I calmed down, but it was scary. I want my panic attacks to stop happening, because they never happened before, but they don't seem to have a cause or trigger that I can avoid. I am really scared.
