Constant intrusive thoughts 24/7
Hello, I’ve been having intense constant intrusive thoughts everyday. I feel like I’m going crazy & I am going to lose myself. Does anyone have any tips to beat these thoughts? I hate living day to day like this.
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I find the best way to combat intrusive thoughts is to focus on another task, like reading or another hobby. It might help to confront these thoughts by writing them down. Ask yourself why are you thinking these thoughts and if they have any real weight to them. I think it's also important to voice out your concerns with other people. It's helpful to have other people's insights and sometimes they can help to you reason with these intrusive thoughts. I hope this helps.
Hi, I’ve got diagnosed OCD so I completely understand your intrusive thoughts. Admittedly I only get them once every several weeks, but they can be tough to write off, and I would probably be falling apart too if I had them 24/7. What I do is I usually tell my mother, no matter how disturbing the thought may be, and she comforts me by reassuring that she sometimes gets disturbing thoughts too, but has never once had the desire to act on them. I would suggest finding some sort of OCD community and share these thoughts with them anonymously. That way you can feel certain that your thoughts will be understood and sympathized with. Another solution might be therapy. A therapist is trained to know the exact ins and outs of these thoughts. If you’re an adult, you can take steps to get therapy right away. If you’re a child and comfortable telling your parents about this, just tell them directly about how this issue is affecting you, and they can help find you therapy or give emotional support. If you’re not comfortable telling them but you still want therapy, then maybe you could write it off as another health issue you need therapy for, and then tell your therapist the truth once you are in their office. It’s so much easier to deal with if you tell someone you believe will understand. Your life does not have to be like this forever, and your issue is absolutely fixable if you take the right steps. Best of luck to you.
Thank you so much for your advice. I’m glad to know it will eventually get better. Makes me feel more relieved
So happy I helped! I’m going through a tough time right now so it brings me much joy to know I made an impact
Hi. Try meditation. It releases your negative/ toxic thoughts and leaves you with positive ones... It is very powerful if done regularly! All the best, you will get through it
