I think I had a panic attack??

What happened today is I got hit in the face with a soccer ball during a soccer game and my glasses broke. I was fine at first it hardly even hurt I was crying a little bit though but I sat out for a while. I went and played again I was still a little tense. By the end of my second time playing everyone was just asking me questions about my glasses and my head giving me all this unwanted attention. It was the end of the game so I had the chance to go back to the car but I started crying again even though I wasn't in physical pain. I was just think about how people don't really care about me any other time and it made me sad feeling because all this pressure and tension was in me about this hit in the head I'm not used to having people ask how I'm doing. So when I was in the car I wasn't even crying I was just hyperventilating, I always cry very badly when I get hurt but not from physical pain because people are asking me if I'm okay. This is really weird to me and I can't control it. I really need help.

Many people care about emotional pain others are in and would be experssing concern if they knew about it. It's harder to talk about for sure and not as obvious as physical injury but I think they do care about you more than it seems day to day. Everyone gets self-obsorbed but it doesn't mean they only care about themselves. It does sound like you had an anxiety attack. I've had similar before. I hope that it becomes easier for you both with the anxiety and with people seeming more supportive around you. <3

Hey there Courtney,

It is evident that you didn't cry so much because of the physical pain, but rather the attention you got because of it. This attention caused you to experience anxiety which may have lead to a panic attack based on the symptoms you described. If the problem persists and becomes worse, it would be best to talk to someone, whether it is here on 7 cups, a mental health professional near you, a friend, a member of your family or the authorities at your school. If you dislike attention in general because it causes you anxiety, you should find a way to let others around you know so they don't make you uncomfortable.

I am so sorry for the experience you had and I sincerely hope you are not facing the anxiety you faced during the experience now. If you need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to contact a listener on: www.7cups.com/browselisteners

Best wishes,

Prio.
