PMDD

I have recently found out that I could be diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Feelings of anxiety/depression increase around one’s monthly cycle- this can lead to panic attacks, which I commonly experience at this time. While I’m happy to have a label that allows me to better understand myself and move forward, has anybody else ever experienced this? Does anybody have any info that can help me? It’s been one exhausting struggle, and I feel as if my mind/body betray me so often.

Hello local,

I am also facing a similar challenge and just starting to find my way through. I finally spoke with the Dr about it and they mentioned it could be PMDD. I have been waiting for an appointment with a therapist to talk more about coping skills and my specialist to discuss how to proceed in terms of the monthly issue. Sometimes it is an issue 3 out of 4 weeks of the month. I'm a mom and work and teach my kids at home so I'm very ready to accept the right help. It's a journey for sure. If you want to talk please let me know ! I've been trying to find someone who understands this issue too.

I am so sorry for seeing this so late. If you still would like to talk about this, I would very much like to! It’s something that is not understood well.

Hi there ! No worries at all! Yes ! Absolutely, I actually just spoke with a physciatrist today and she was very helpful. Along with some medication she said I could try if i felt i needed, she recommended also taking magnesium glycinate.

I will try and share the study here if I can figure out how lol, that she showed me with how thr magnesium glycinate (not citrate) can be helpful in many ways. My GYN did not seem to think my issues were PMDD bit I do feel there is a correlation, maybe some separate issues mixed in.

And I feel you it is so not talked about and very complex at times! Hugs to you! I am open to talking about it more too

I definitely need to see someone about this and inquire more. I hope that those help you! It’s definitely an exhausting thing to deal with, especially when it interferes in other parts of life. Certainly worth finding out what works best for you. I hope it’s something that gets easier to understand over time.

Hugs to you as well!

Thank you ! I hope that you find somethings that work well for you too! I did try the magnesium last night and noticed I went to sleep easier and felt more calm. I believe this is the brand I took (was given some by a relative) :

It's notban easy thing to feel the highs and lows, sometimes it feels like pregnancy hormones for me and I cry and laugh and feel angry within the same hour!

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I’ve been playing around with different vitamins and iron supplements as well. I will look into the magnesium as well. I appreciate you!
