panic attack or not?

Hello! Sorry to bother you all, but Id like to ask for an opinion.

This might sound a little dumb since it wasnt a traumatic experience. I made the sports team I tried out for and this means a lot of pressure will be put on me. I get really anxious and nervous about performing in front of people as well. Before I was told that I made it I was getting really nervous and a sense of almost dread came over me thinking about what would happen if I did make it. I would be responsible for whether the team did good or not in a way and lately Ive been thinking of scenarios on how to get out of actually playing even though I love the sport. When I went into the room where the coaches would tell me, I felt nervous, but not more than usual, and smiled and said thank you. But as soon as I left, I started breathing really heavily and fast, and had to lean against the wall, then ending up squatting on the floor. After I started to cry, like sob, and it wasnt cause I was happy.

Im not sure if this was a panic attack, because Ive read some peoples experiences and theyre a lot more severe than this. I dont know if it could just be stress building up.

Thank you so much!

Hello there @wednesdaygen,

I'm sorry to hear you had this disturbing experience. As I know panic attacks vary in intensity and even though I've never had a full-blown panic attack, I also expeienced such states of transient panic. And most people have such minor attacks at least once in their life, I wouldn't worry very much about these symptoms by themselves. But if you feel that there is a lot of stress and pressure on your shoulders lately and you could use some help in learning how to better manage it, it's definitely a good idea to reach out for help :) If you feel like it, we can talk more in private and maybe find some ways of dealing with the stress.

Take care!
