Agoraphobia and anxiety
Hi, i am also new to this app so i just wanted to share a bit of my story. It all started after i got Covid at the end of august 2021. Basically my family got the virus from my aunt at the same time so me, my mom, my older sister and my younger sister. We got hospitalized for 12 days and got hit really bad while my aunt couldn’t make it and passed away, we were on the room next to my aunt and the night before she died i experienced my first panic attack and it was so scary. After the virus passed we got discharged and that very same day started my anxiety. I couldn’t understand what was happening but my heart was beating so fast that i started crying my eyes out. My mom and sister managed to calm me down a little after a lot of crying and shaking. We turned back home but i had no strength to do anything and i started to get panick attacks more often and anxiety all the time. While my family started to recover and get back to normal life i only started to get worse. Covid left me with no physical strength, heart palpitations, parosmia, stomach issues, anemia, anxiety, panick attacks, depression and agoraphobia. I feel like i can’t even remember the way i used to be before Covid and i am sooo scared that i won’t be able to be normal again. I used to beat my self down but God only knows how much i miss my old normal self and i would do anything to be the same again. I wish i could turn back time but it’s never gonna happen.
I want to get back to a normal life though so i am really gonna do my best to achieve that. Step by step and little by little.
@Donalda
hey, I’m so sorry that happened to you! I imagine it being a very traumatic experience and even more difficult to deal with with the long COVID symptoms and the ongoing mental health symptoms.
I don’t know if it helps, but I do believe very strongly that you can get well again <3
It sounds like this might be the first time you are having such intense mental health symptoms and imagine it being very scary.
Even though it is possible to tackle it your own way, I would recommend you to look for a therapist if possible. If it’s not covered by your insurance company, maybe you can find only therapy in some benefice program? These do exist in some countries (like Brazil for example). It may take a while to find somebody, for me it really helped me reading up on the issues in the meantime (not too much though) and trying to build a team around myself that can help me (like tying the social net around you a bit stronger, trying to communicate your needs more direct and maybe establish routines of people checking in with you or doing stuff with you)
At least that’s what I’m currently doing and it helps and makes me feel better.
Sending you lots of strength!
