Facing emetophobia
Hey folks.
Long story short I'm faced regularly with the possibility of having to face this fear without my choosing. It's been a lifetime of nausea and always being afraid of what comes after.
Tomorrow I go to the cabin and once again I dread the drive. I get claustrophobic and have PTSD from others having bad rides and all week I've been suffering with panic and nausea that never ends. Doesn't help that my period is about to start and that makes me feel worse on it's own.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on surviving emetophobia, in case the worst should happen. How did you survive it? Cause I still do not believe I will, I know I'll live but I am so terrified and I still react today the same as I did 14 years ago when it began. I can't seem to comprehend being okay. It is crippling and I'm scared. Honestly "scared" doesn't so this feeling justice. Any advice is helpful.
(Yes I've seen doctors, yes I've tried cbt, yes I've read books, yes I have other anxiety and panic disorders I'm a bad of garbage.)

Hello, it is lovely to meet you
. Thank you so much for sharing your problem with us. I am so sorry to hear you have to face emetophobia. I dont know anybody with this phobia in my area, but from your telling it sounds really challenging. I can hear you felt so scared and had nausea, because of the drive. Unfortunatelly, as I dont know anybody with this problem I cant give you advice about what should you do. I just wanted to let you know we are here for. I know its hard to overcome it, but I hope you will feel a little bit better. Take care!
@KindPear Hey, fellow Emet here! Hope you are feeling a bit better. Im pretty much 44 years emet now, and I know you say you have had CBT but was it the right therapist? I say this because I had to find one that was right and just luckily the lady I got, well I hated her at first because she was strict. She pretty much scared the pants off me. But I later found out that there was a reason for it. If you get a soft, pushover therapist you are unlikely to succeed. This one made it clear in no uncertain terms that I was to try to wriggle out of anything. Long story short but I managed a flight to Gibraltar after therapy. It does work, but it also needs topping up which I have found the problem now that I no longer live in that area.
I am facing the same situation
