Im taking a lot of medication and I feel like it messes up my brain. Im afraid that my pills will give me long term consequences. Im so anxious about my smarts. I have a phobia about not being smart enough. I feel like I have difficulty remember ing streets and where my car is parked. I can never find my way around town. I also have difficulty dividing and doing math. Basic math. I feel dumb like I cant fully learn something. My anxiety also doesnt help me it makes it difficult for me to concentrate. I feel useless like if I cant do my finances or even live by myself. Im also afraid of speaking because my anxiety and meds inhibit coherency. i fear that my brain from so many meds, so much anxiety and so much depression have somehow left me off.

You might want to talk to your medication providing doctor about your concerns about having too much mental fog to function even. When I took Elavil, it seemed to cause my higher brain functions to shut off. When I was studying for a very difficult professional certification, it required memorizing many complicated formulas and procedures (advanced statistics). There's no way I could do that while taking the tricyclic, and so I stopped. The biggest problem for me with medications is being on them and being able to function at work. I have failed with nearly ever medication. Lorazepam seems to be the most helpful, but many practitioners are afraid to prescribe it because it is addictive. Currently, I've started Effexor last week, and I had the same fear as you. I wondered if I was causing myself permanent brain damage simply trying to tolerate my abusive job situation. Further, my personal laptop this week started to fail, and I simply could remember the command that I had known for years on how to bring up the desktop from the task manager.

So, you're not alone. It would be good to talk to your doctor and explain that the medications are interfering with your ability to function in life and you're having trouble tolerating all of them.

@Darkseed Thanks for sharing your experience. I have talked to my doctor about the pills Im taking but she insists that the benefits outweigh the side effects. Regardless, I decided to go off them slowly. Im hoping for the best.
