I have an intense fear of circles

A bunch of them close together. It brings out an almost child like response from me. When is was about 4 my brother dragged me across the floor, with his unnaturally hyperactive strength, and gave me a rug burn. And so with wisdom beyond his years my birth father decided that should not go unpunished. So my birth father, mind you is six foot something about the size of a door frame, grabs my brother by his head. He grabbed him by the back of his head and proceeded to rub my two year old brother face in the ground. He got one too, my parents split up, finally. I've been incredibly afraid of circles like that since. I find it lovely that whenever I'm cold or freaked out I get those tiny little reminders. They make my skin crawl and I panic.

@Cosmicweirdness I'm sorry that you had to endure moments such as these in your childhood. I can't imagine the strength you must possess to have gotten through it and seek help. I'm glad to hear that at least your homelife has changed in the better with your father out of the picture. It must be a relief to know he isn't there anymore. I realize that doesn't help with the trauma you already endured or the pain you are still processing now.

I have found that speaking with a counselor has really helped me unpack some old baggage. Some of which I didn't realize I was carrying. If its affordable to you, I would suggest speaking to a professional in addition to speaking with the 7 cups community. Hopefully the added help will allow you to move forward with your life and leave your father behind in the past.

I realize that it's been a while since this was posted. I'm sorry that no one responded to your thread sooner than this. I truly hope that you are doing better now than you were feeling in May. Let us know how we can better support you here in the community.
