Weather phobia
I have a severe weather phobia. I have three apps on my phone for weather that I check more than facebook. If it rains a little bit I get everything ready for the basement, like normal people do for a tornado watch. If I even see a picture of a tornado or someone mentions one I freak out inside and begin to imagine my home being destroyed. I love in southern indiana and we've only had one tornado in two years (10 miles from my home... did very little damage). We also had about 8-10 severe thunderstorms last year, which are pretty scary. I can't do anything else if severe weather is forcasted, even if it's a week away.
What can I do? Does anyone else suffer from this?
The only thing Weather related that bothers me, is strong Wind storms. Particularly during Winter, and esp at night. A Howling wind is eerie and ominous! I'm not afraid of it... I just do Not Like it (at all)
You're in Indiana? I am in Wisconsin and the winters these past 2 years have been very dull. Global warming is seriously occuring, tho the jackass of a president doesn't seem to care, but I don't think Indiana has much to worry about at the moment. The states that are eventually supposed to sink is California and Nevada. There's also too much CO2 in the air. Read about global warming sometime.
@TransAm85
Hello TransAm. It doesn't matter how many of us buy a Toyota Prius... China is spewing out so much greenhouse gases, some say its already irreversible. Might as well buy a diesel Truck, and enjoy the Warm Winters. LoL
@ChromeLotus That's a good analogy. :) A Prius is a piece of junk tho .. looks like a computer mouse. Diesal truck? GMC or Chevy .. :) And ya know, you say China, I went to Mexico City in 2015 .. I could barely breathe! That city produces a lot of things such as Nike, Gatorade, and Aeropostale. So on top of the elevation of the city, all the chemicals from the machines .. I dk how people can live there!
@Bethbananas I'm sorry that you're feeling anxious about the weather. Unfortunately(?), I cannot say I feel the exact same way.
I feel quite, um --attached to the weather and my mood tends to flip alongside with the weather --when it's sunny, I'm cheery. When it rains, I'm a ball of sadness etc. I don't know if that's a part of your anxiety? Sorry if it isn't x
@Bethbananas
a year ago in a massive storm that hit the south coast the block of flat opposite mine lots its roof and smashed down on a load of cars, since then as soon as the wind picks up i am back on that night and lay there in bed worrying about my roof and how it could come off at anytime ever thou i know it will not my mind will not let the sight of that roof out of my head
