Severe anxiety preventing me from getting help?
hello, i have been struggling with general and social anxiety for a few years now but it has developed into a panic disorder and dp/dr that seems to be consuming my life. I'm unable to enjoy and do things that I used to love due to the fear of having a panic attack. I live with constant fear and anxiety during ordinary life and can't express how awful it is to be me everyday. I know that I need to seek help but I'm afraid of the panic and anxiety it will give me to have to go and see somebody. I can't continue to live the way i am, but i can't seem to seek help? Does anybody have any advice or possible resolutions? Thank you xx
@alexandrag Hi I am really sorry to hear your struggling but it will get better and you will be ok :) you can reach out for help through your doctor , that doesn't mean you have to go into doctors but just give them a call and request to talk to your doctor they will give you a call back. They will refer you for therapy , my partner gets home therapy as she cannot leave the house so maybe discuss that or even over the phone help at first? All the best 😊
@alexandrag Hello :)
Getting help face to face can be so difficult when you have anxiety around people and unfamiliar places, thankfully there are therapists online such as here and other websites, also you can find therapists close to you who can provide skype sessions until you feel confident enough to go into office to talk face to face. This is what I am doing, I have a councelor online and a therapist from my town who i speak with on skype, I also had a telephone doctors appointment in order to get help medically with the anxiety and depression and from there I was able to get medical help, though I do need to go in now and then for health checks and medication reviews. The first step especially when everything is unknown can be difficult, try researching if therapists in your area do skype sessions and if you can speak to your gp by telephone if you wish to seek help that way too. :)
