A Sudden Change of Plans
Hi! I am hoping that someone can help me with an issue that I am having right now. My boyfriend's grandfather has been in the hospital for a month now and he is in a coma. He has severe heart issues due to his smoking addiction and there has been some complications with the family convincing him to stop. It has been days where my boyfriend and I have been getting reports back from grandma that he is not talking, not responsive to any medications, and that he has been angry and bitter with the nurses. Being the girlfriend, I feel helpless because I am not blood and I see myself as a guest/friend of the family. My boyfriend first saw his grandfather at the hospital two days ago and he mentioned to me that the hardest thing was leaving his grandfather. I felt bad for him because he and his grandfather are really close than he and his grandmother. About an hour ago, the grandmother has caught some emails being exchanged between her husband (grandfather) and another woman. I caught her crying in the living room and she mentioned to me that all three of us (me, my boyfriend, and her) should talk about what we should do. I sense that it will have to be a sudden change of plans. I am a college student and I am close to graduating to my bachelor's degree and I cannot leave so suddenly just because someone's life is in shambles. I haven't talked to my boyfriend about it yet but I will because he deserves to know. Right now, I am in a limbo here. I am caught in between being supportive and saying something because all this time, this man is in the hospital and everyone is feeling pity and sorry except my boyfriend, for the grandfather and they have been holding a grudge against him for thirty years. I feel that we have to move (my boyfriend and me) to something better and I don't want to be emotional nor angry because I accept change fully but just not in a time like this. Any advice will help please! I don't know what to do!
