Thank you for sharing your story with us here in this thread! I know it's not always easy to open up about our struggles. Based on what you have described, it sounds like you might be expeiencing some social anxiety. You are definitely not alone in your struggles, there are many people who deal with social anxiety, and things will get better! You mentionned CBT..what are some of the doubts that you are having about it?

@DeliriousDragonfruit Yes, there are plenty of people out there who are similar to you—people who isolate themselves and who feel alone.

It's exactly the kind of thing that CBT can help with, if the NHS allocates you to a good therapist and allows you to have enough sessions of therapy. A good CBT therapist will work with you to discover the cause of the problem, and help you to fix it permanently so that you are not so afraid of people any more and you don't have to avoid going places.

Unfortunately not all therapists are good at CBT, and in the NHS you don't usually get any choice of therapist. And sometimes the NHS rations therapy, limiting you to so few sessions that you cannot make much progress. For these reasons you are correct to have doubts, but it's certainly possible that CBT will completely transform your life for the better.
