A friend burned bridges with me

I made a mistake and I let my own selfishness get in the way of my friendship with this person. Now she refuses to want anything to do with me. Any piece of advice Im ever given, I hate hearing. People are always telling me "just give it time" "work on forgiving yourself", but I want things to be better now. I want things to go back to the way they were. I dont know how to forgive myself and Ive tried doing that so much. I just want some sort of forgiveness. I just want my friend back.

Okay so it sounds like you aren't selfish at all. You sound like a caring friend that got a big turned around. I hate to be another person to tell you this but time does heal. The emotions are fresh and raw. I had a best friend and we didn't talk for a year over a rumour that someone else started. As hard as it was I stepped back. I let her have space. A year later we connected again. We spoke about what happened. I can't guarantee this will work but what I can say is don't beat yourself up about the break down of a friendship or relationship. These things happen and you are in no way selfish for having a bad day or a bad few weeks. It's okay!

The thing is that what happened was I was venting on social media and didnt directly mention her or even mentioning a person, but I guess emotionally, it was sort of tied to her. It was comments I made out of jealousy and she connected the dots and called me out on it and cut me off. Im not even sure if shed even be willing to reconnect, if at all. Shes not exactly the type to easily forgive people. I never wanted to hurt her in any way.
