Anxiety

So this started all last week my kids got sick and then I started to feel wired at the end of the night so I put on my Apple Watch to check my heart rate because I couldn’t breathe so I ended up going to the hospital and they told me anxiety. So fast forward when I’m home it starts but when I’m out I’m fine I’ve had to sleep in my car once and then come inside to sleep I recently had my baby 2 months ago on the 19th of this month and for a while I wouldn’t sleep because I was paranoid of SIDS and when both kids got sick I think that triggered anxiety. I need tips on how to deal with it I can’t stay out of my house all the time because I have no where to go

Hi! How are you doing now? Have you found the self-help guide for anxiety here? It has some good tips. Here is the whole list of guides/courses: https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php

It makes sense to have anxiety about your kids, especially with a new baby! For all parenting anxiety what I find most helpful is to educate myself on the topic, and once I feel I really understand all the information and have done everything I can then the anxiety goes away and is replaced with confidence. I found co-sleeping prevented any worry in the early years as I knew I would notice anything as soon as it happened, and we could bond and feel love rather than anxiety. Early years of light sleeping is exhausting but doesn't have to have any anxiety/worry attached, and you can catch up on sleep when they are older. I know some governments advise against co-sleeping; many people join the cot onto their bed instead; this is not professional advice just what worked for me and there is lots of research to support it.

Also look into the tools for dealing with anxiety/panic (see link above). Do you have a supportive midwife or postnatal/breastfeeding consultant to talk to? They deal with this sort of thing all the time and can have some great tips and reassurance. Also mother and baby groups, postnatal groups etc. It is a challenging time and it helps to build a support network around yourself for the parenting years. 💛

I had really bad PPA after my second was born. Im so sorry. That's a terrible feeling.

I learned that taking my prenatal after pregnancy helped. Also drinking tons of water and eating healthy, since certain foods can trigger.

I hope you are doing better, as I see you posted a month ago. Hopefully you found help/way to ease the tension and anxiety.

Hugs
