Anxiety about future
I believe I'm not the only one with this problem. As I get older and as the graduation day draws nearer and nearer, I begin to fear what lies beyond. I begin to fear that nobody will hire me and my parents would be disappointed in me. I begin to imagine myself moving into my parents' house after multiple failed attempts of employment. I imagine disappointed looks from my parents. As this cruel imagination gets worse, so does my anxiety. I lose appetite and sleep, and this anxiety and fear become the only things that occupy my mind.
Instead of imagining myself in the depth of misery, I decided to give a little twist to my thoughts. Instead of thinking "I don't know what's gonna happen to me after graduation. I probably would not be hired and would disappoint my parents.", I started to think "I don't know what's gonna happen to me after graduation. But I do know how I'm going to deal with it." Thinking like this relaxes my mind, and it helps me lessen my anxiety.
You can't change what lies before you, but you can change how you're going to react to it. They say life is a journey, so don't be anxious about the future; enjoy your life as it takes its course. :)
I'm going into my second year of university and I still have not even been hired for a first job. Not even made it to an interview. So yeah I understand the fear and pressure.
Well done for learning this early. The future and the unkown can be a very daunting thing, and even at times, overwhelming. As we grow older and mature - not to scare you - facing the unknown becomes more and more often, but it's during these times of unknown that we actually grow. The sooner you take such a positive perspective and learn to handle it, the better you will be able to face these challenges. Well done.
