Anxiety beating me

So, I first had a big bout of anxiety when I was finishing my degree. It was a really stressful time and I got really worried about it. I worried that I was going to fail and then once I had passed, I was worried someone would decide I shouldn't have my qualification and take it off me. I went to my gp and was told I could self refer to a CBT service. I didn't want to go but knew I should so every week went along to a group session. Not long after that, I felt better. Couldnt say if it was the therapy or if my anxiety had just lessened as it had been reducing anyway. I had moved away, I had a new job, I was moving on.

Fast forward a few years. I was doing a job i loved, living in my first owned house that i loved. I was happy. My husband got offered a brilliant job 3 hours away. If he accepted it, we definitely had to move. I was upset but I thought I was okay. We stayed in our house while I had to find a new job, and sell the house, and my husband worked out his notice. I lived at home for 3 weeks alone whilst my husband stayed near his new job. I was a little anxious about things but okay. We then moved into our house and I started my new job. 2 months later, our beloved cat died. I was so worried we had done something wrong or missed something. Turns out there was nothing we could have done. But since then I've been getting so many intrusive thoughts and feeling awful. We have just got new kittens again and I'm feeling so anxious all the time.

@quickwittedWheel3930 I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet furbaby. I myself know what it feels like to lose our furbaby mine was over 15 years old and I miss him everyday and he was with me through so much in the 15 years .. I had gotten him because I was dealing with agoraphobia and was home all the time and having anxiety and panic so I seen the dog show on thanksgiving day and seen the Affenpinscher breed come out and win and I fell in love...

You have went through some changes that can be very stressful like moving that is a big one and starting a new job and your furbaby passing away... so you have more than one stressful thing going on.. ((((((((Hugs))))))))).

Getting a new furbaby does help and it does take time to adjust to moving and the new job so take each day as it comes in that day you can do coping skills that may help and if you have dealt with anxiety before then you most likely already know them all right...

I will list what helps me and see if some may help you.. heart..

Distractions like hobbies or something that keeps your mind on something else or start a new hobby .. I love to color and draw and also Journal , Self care, Meditation, Mindfulness, Self Positive talk, Replacing the negative scary thoughts with Positive or Funny thoughts,Music, Movies that are silly and make us laugh, Talking with others who will Listen , Breathing exercises, Exercising even if u can take a small walk and see pretty trees and flowers or cool places that you have never seen before.

Overtime once all settles down and you are adjusted better to your job and new home and new furbaby things will get better and using the coping skills and reaching out for help if needed ..

I wish you the best and I send Positive good vibes your way !! smiley...

Take care and remember that you have so much going on right now and this will get better okay... You will overcome this again like before ((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))).

@Tyedyedbutterfly65 thank you for your response. You don't know how much it helped to read your kind words. I do really hope that this is just a blip. I think it's just that the thoughts this time are worse than before... but also they are just thoughts. I can defeat them. Tonight I really felt like they were defeating me but I know I just need to change my mindset and believe I can get through this.

@quickwittedWheel3930 You are most welcome anytime..

You are aware of what is going on so that is a true start because you have dealt with anxiety before even if this time it is more intense you can still pull through and keep going and you will !!!!

You are going through so much so remember that okay and over time things will get better and you will be settled in more..

Use all the coping skills you can okay and replace those scary thoughts with positive ones ..

I use a Positivity Board that i have hanging in my bathroom lol I know yes my bathroom were we all go right lol now you can get different sizes of the dry erase board and different colors of dry erase pens which I love so I also decorated mine to match my Pink Paris bathroom :).... Mine is really pretty and I read them daily and I also put new ones up or even silly faces.. One that i love the most is FEAR IS A LIAR! ... another one is FACE THE FEAR AND FEEL THE FEAR ! I AM MY OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL, I AM A SURVIVOR , I AM NOT ALONE ... just some i use..

Hugsss and Blessings ... You are gonna pull through this... repeat this over and over and retrain the thoughts.

@Tyedyedbutterfly65 oh that's a brilliant idea. I used to have little post it notes with positive thoughts and a list of all the good things in my life above my desk.

I hate intrusive thoughts but I know that that is all they are! I've read so much in the past few days and realised that I'm not alone and it doesn't mean anything. The thoughts persist because they make me anxious, if I don't let them- they can't do any harm. Everyone gets them - and most people think nothing of them. The general feeling of anxiety for no reason is also a tough one because there it is harder to pin down but I'm practicing mindfulness and finding ways to be at peace in my own head.

Time is definitely a healer. And as much as I hate feeling this way- a positive mind works wonders to turn things around. That's what I'm currently working on! Trying to think of the positive things and noticing the little pleasures in life.

Yesterday was really a low day for me but I'm pleased to say today was much better. I hope for this to continue but I also know some days will be bad and I shouldn't let the bad days stop my progress. Everyone has bad days, we should just learn from them and move on. The good ones are the ones to focus on and be proud of.
