I'm about to lose a dog. It's my fisrt time and I feel so anxious about his health every day. At night I feel panic whenever I imagine one day he won't be there...

@rhodhopis I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, I know exactly how stressful that can be, and how upsetting it can be to think of them not being around anymore. I lost my dog last December from health problems, it is never an easy thing to go through. I'm wishing the best for your dog, that they may live as long as possible and be as comfortable as possible, and best wishes for you to have strength and support during this stressful time ❤ I do hope everything works out, but I know sometimes life isn't like that, so I hope in the *hopefully not* event that you lose your dog, you have the right supports around you

@rhodhopis

There is nothing I can say that will provide comfort about losing a beloved pet. I have lost several in my lifetime. The last one, a cat, was everything to me. He was with me through so many major events in my life, and sat with me, slept with me - was practically attached to me the last few years of his life. When he died, I said I'd never have another cat or dog. Because the pain was too much to bear. I didn't want to go through that loss ever again.

I mourned. I cried. I sobbed. And one day I felt the emptiness of the house. And I knew that the shelters were full of animals that needed love, that needed to be able to have a place to call home, and to have someone love them forever and be with them when it was there time.

And so, I'm surrounded by more furbabies. And I'll weep madly when they die, because I love them so. And I still love all of my other past furbabies. And I like to think that they all were happy with me rescuing them, and would want me to rescue more again.

If you can, be with your dog when it's his time. It's hard. Terribly hard, but for me I felt it was important that I was with all my pets till the end.
