Anxiety due to covid

I feel a little crazy admitting this to strangers but I've noticed I'm not alone.

I'm a type 1 diabetic and so is my child. We're very immune compromised. .

This pandemic has destroyed who I am as a human. I don't see friends, very rarely see family, I don't go into stores or anything. Everyday is anxiety, fear that I'll get covid and die or even worse that my son will get it and die. My anxiety has gotten so bad that anytime I cough, or have a runny nose or sore throat I go into a full blown panic attack and I can't control it. It's emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting. I'm homeschooling, so I know my kiddo is experiencing some loneliness as well. I do everything to protect us and we're never put at risk but the thought is always there. I just feel like I can't cope with this any longer.

I'm currently laying on my couch late at night with a very sore throat and right away, I'm thinking it's covid and I just can't calm down. I feel crazy.

Please tell me if you have advice or even let me know that I can't be the only person experiencing this.

❤

I hear you and you are not alone. I have had terrible anxiety since my husband and I had COVID in August. His cough was horrible and I was really worried about him. This past weekend the realization hit me that he could have died and that is what had scared me so much. I cried and cried as I thought about it. The crying felt good to get out.

I don’t know why my anxiety has persisted this long past us getting better. It affects me every day. Sounds like you are in the same boat. Who do you have for a support system? Have you been vaccinated as that will help should you catch COVID. My husband and I were both vaccinated. He has type II Diabetes so I know being vaccinated helped him.

Getting outside in the fresh air and sunshine is helpful. You can do that safely away from others. That also adds a layer of normalcy.

Do you have a therapist to talk with? I have begun seeing a therapist and find it very helpful as she is a voice of reason.

I hope you start to feel less anxiety. This is a safe place to share.

I’m dealing with the same issues but my anxiety has been so bad that I had to start seeing family again. I’m not sure what to do or if this is what triggered my anxiety panic attacks or if it’s something else, It’s scary ! Maybe a online therapist can help us both.

I would love to know the actual number of people who are dealing with anxiety and depression right now as a result of COVID. I mean that it would be helpful knowing we are not alone in this. I often feel like I am the only one going through this. Intellectually I know this is not the case. Emotionally it feels very vulnerable and I wonder why I can’t be stronger like other people I see going about there days.

Does that make sense?
