Anxiety- postpartum?
When I had my baby 15 months ago Im pretty sure I had postpartum anxiety, I couldnt sleep for fear of something going wrong like SIDS and I wanted to be alert always for her. I used to just lie in bed thinking of all the ways she could die. Fast forward to now and I can sleep, I can function, etc but the very inclination of anything happening makes me worry. Like I saw a post about someones baby who died from RSV. There are so many stories and stuff happens all the time I just couldnt bear anything to her so I worry. Is this anxiety still? I feel like I dont want help if it is because then I wouldnt be alert enough to stop something bad from happening: But I am tired of having to worry so much.
What you've experienced and what you experience now are completely normal reactions, it happens to a lot of women, you're not alone in this! I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now. I'd say it's normal for a mother to worry when you hear something makes you think of the possibility of bad things happening. But if these feelings is to much of a big burden, it's ok to seek help! Talking about it and letting thoughts out of your head is already a great first step. Your loved ones are there for you, and I'm sure they'll be want to do their best to help you through this! Professional help can also be very important. Many mothers agree that being supported made all the difference to them, like starting to finally breathe again, step by step!
I know you might feel like being more relaxed would make you less alert, but feeling good (physically, mentally and emotionally) can really allow you to care for your baby in the best way possible! Otherwise, being too stressed out can be counter-productive. Burning out can have an impact on our ability to take care of other people. We're able to care for others best when we feel well ourselves, and you'll be able to better deal with any possible issue! It's not something you do for yourself, it's for your baby and your family too. And I'm sure they'll be by your side if you involve them and let them support you!
