Whenever I start a new relationship I tend to act normal just yknow not too clingy just perfect its nice i dont get worried or paranoid or anxious. But I feel like the more attatched i become, the more clingy i become. The more my thoughts get to me, the more i overthink things and I dont know howt o fix it. It effects my relationships because it causes me to "act out" and i wish i could stop it

@Julietx3

I do that too. I am finally in a really awesome, healthy relationship with someone I adore. I hope we last for a very long time, because I feel like I've found a long-term companion. I start out relationships being the "chill girl" and not letting anything get to me. And now that my relationship has reached 10 months, I've found myself getting really anxious and paranoid about little things that before wouldn't bother me when we started dating, because back then I was trying to keep it cool and not let anything bug me (telling myself, hey, I'm awesome, and if he leaves me, that's his problem and I'll find someone else) but now I feel like my own worst enemy when I start getting anxious and clingy. The things that have helped me the most have been to talk about it honestly to someone (even a stranger online), keeping a private journal about it, and trying to focus back on myself and what made me happy when I was alone, and trying to bring those things back into my life. So for instance, I'll every once in a while tell my bf that I need some personal time doing this or that, or I'll go out on a run by myself to clear my head. Lastly, I don't do it all the time because I don't want to just stress him out, but I'll be honest and I'll tell him that I have been dealing with some anxiety. Not too long ago I told him exactly that and it's been making me feel more dependent on him than normal and that I don't like that because I don't want him to feel that I'm getting clingy, so I just need to go do something alone to clear my head. I was nervous to tell him all that, but he replied by telling me he understands and that he gets that way too, and that I can do what I need to do.

I wish you the best of luck with this. Getting paranoid sucks. I do it so very often.

@Julietx3 I understand what you mean, I get attached to people very easily and once I do, i have a tendency to become clingy. What's worse is that when I try to stop being clingy it appears as though i'm pushing them away. I have no in between lol

It happens to the best of us, I was with my boyfriend for 10 years, and was still very clingy, hell ill admit I'd hold the back of his shirt walking thru the store just out of my own nervous habit.
