Confused

I'm afraid I won't amount to much. I have tons of experience, skills, and education but I keep losing to "it's not who you know but what you know" AND "it's not what you know but who you know."

Knowing people gets me a conversation, but I never get hired for something long term. I'm only allowed 6 month - 1 year stints at places, then it's "oh we couldn't hire you on."

It's the same as when I was a kid, people would ask me to do stuff for them, then act like we never met.
