Driving Test
Hey, I do generally have bad anxiety already but I started learning to drive last year and before every lesson I get so nervous that I feel sick/bad stomach and now I have my test next week! I feel sick thinking about it because I know how panicky I'll be on the day and don't know how I'm going to be able to handle it.
@EllieW14
If you feel you don't know the driver's handbook well enough off by heart studying could probably help and I recommend it cause I failed my first driving test because I had forgotten some of the rules in the time between reading it for the written test and the driving test a year or so later. Learning the roads local to the test site is a good idea too. My first test was in a town I wasn't used to driving in but was much easier in a town where I knew what to expect from practicing on those roads. The person giving the test will know that you're nervous already because almost everyone is. Hopefully it's a nice person who helps you relax and take your time. Also the Mindfulness tracks in the Path menu here on 7cups can help ease excess anxiety.
I'm 23 and I haven't even taken my driving test yet :/ So I admire that you're going to take one at all!
I've had my permit for years and all I have to do to get my license is take the test, but I've been such a coward about it. I get the same panicky feelings lol.
I didn't get my liscense till I was 22 years old.
Driving school is a great way to get over anxiety of driving. My best friend was killed and it scared me to drive for years. My family pushed me to take lessons and it made me more confident. Now I could do it with my eyes closed... just kidding😋
@RandiiBabyy that's great that you can now feel confident driving! My test is in a couple hours, never felt so sick
Hi @EllieW14
I know it's a bit late to answer this, but I will be wishing you the best of luck at your driving test!
I take it that you didn't consider asking your doctor for advise feeling sick at your driving lessons?
The sunshine is with you darling, take care
@PetiteSara hey thanks for your reply, tests in a couple hours, I didn't go to the doctor no but I have been taking kalms for the test, they have seemed to helped but incredibly nervous now that I know I'm taking the test today!
Hi @EllieW14
I'm sorry that I cannot be of a bigger support than this. I'll be sending you happy thoughts in a couple of hours to make sure I'm doing my part :-)
I am not familiar with Kalm but I'm glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better with your nerves. It is very common to feel nervous on the day of your driving test --I definitely was, and while it may not be a big help and may or may not sound cliche, I wanted to mention it: You're good darling. You know your stuff and if you didn't, your driving instructor wouldn't have had you take the driving test today. I hope that you're proud of yourself for sticking it out despite being nervous during your lession and got through them all -hugs-
@PetiteSara Thanks so much I really appreciate it, you've actually made me feel more calmer about it!
