Feeling Hopeless

I am overwhelmed by work and exams. I feel so hopeless that I may not be able to work through all of what I have right not. I feel pain in my stomach and like there is a giant rock on my back. I sometimes feel like I cannot understand or learn anything, like it is hard to concentrate or even understand what people are saying or trying to say to me.

I understand this feeling. I went through it or something like what you are describing.

How did you deal with it?

@Mshadows

It sounds like you are burnout with your work and exam. When your body and mind are in an extremely tired situation, it starts to respond to things slowly. Self-care may be the practice you are seeking for. Take a short break, do something you love, even 15 minutes to relax may bring some difference. Wish you feel better soon.

@Mshadows

It must be difficult having to deal with your work and exams. I understand sometimes in the back of your mind at school you'll think about work, and when you're at work you'll think about school. When trying to keep track of all these things your mind gets overwhelmed and you are not able to concentrate well. I think it's great that you acknowledge all this stress is making it harder for you to perform well in your professional life. That's why I agree with @Eudaimonia99, although there might not be a clear solution, it's important to focus on self care and relax your mind to focus better at work and for your exams.

Hello Mshadows,

I agree with the posters that are pointing out that you might be suffering from mental exhaustion or burn out. I have experienced the same symptoms during times of great mental stress. Self-care is key, especially getting enough sleep and rest. I’m not a big medication person, but if you’re having a hard time sleeping through the night, you might want to ask your doctor for something like Hydroxyzine. It’s actually an antihistamine but is also used for anxiety. It calms the mind but it’s non habit forming. It has a slight sedating effect. One Tylenol PM with 1 Melatonin Gummie works for me. Whatever you do, sleep and rest will help decrease your symptoms. Maybe you can speak to your supervisor at work about cutting back your schedule or reducing your workload. Remember, your mental health comes first. Be selfish with your time, and don’t be afraid to say no. Eat healthy, exercise, and get a massage. You can also get a pedicure which comes with a foot massage. Once your mind and body starts to rest, you’ll start feeling like your old self soon. I’ll be praying for you too! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
