Friends
I have told my friends about my anxiety but other than when I first told them we haven't really talked about it. So they don't know how I really feel all the time. Sometimes they make fun of me but I don't think they are trying to be mean. Today one of my friends (we will call her L) was telling another one of my friends (we will call her M) about something I had done earlier in the day. I was using my pen to point to each word because I was proof reading, but I was using the clicky end. Once I had realised that it could be really annoying for some people I asked L if it was annoying she said yes and so I stopped. When L was telling M about it she exaggerated the truth, she said that I had been proof reading and that I was clicking my pen for each word for like a whole page before I stopped and asked if it was annoying, when in reality I was only doing it for a few lines. Anyway, after L had finished telling M about it I went quiet, and I felt my face going red. M realised that what L had said had made me upset, and she told L that.
I dont think L was trying to be mean to me but I just dont think she or any of my friends know when what they are saying is going to make me upset. They might think that what they are saying is funny but whenI hear it I take it serious and thenit really hurts me.
The point of this is that I want to know how to talk to my friends about my anxiety (social and general).
@Zebra9999 It must be uncomfortable indeed when you are feeling like that. In dealing with your friends about your anxiety you need to be honest with them about it. Usually though, it can be uncomfortable situations for your friends as they may not understand what's going on in the head of someone who has anxiety and also didn't know how to deal with the situation.
If I may suggest is for you to gently say to them how you feel generally when you are anxious and ask for their understanding about it. Talking about it to your friends (describing how it feels in a light conversation) may help your friend to understand what actually happened in your head though :)
