How do I let go of the past?
One of the major things I struggle with it self-forgiveness and letting go. I often find myself thinking about past situations and it makes me anxious and I start to feel like this situation is currently happening or is about to happen. Non of this makes any rational sense, and I'm not sure how to explain it. To give an example, going through my drivers test was a stressful situation for me, but I survived through it. These days, if I think about that day, I start to panic and feel like I'm actually reliving the day. My anxiety spikes and I feel like I have to once again prove myself and that I will make the same mistakes, or worse. It's like this with basically any past situation that was stressful for me. Does this make any sense? I feel like I'm stuck in the past and that this anxiety will take my future from me.
How can I move on?
Dear @WaterfallLily! You know why did you survive that incident? Because you are strong, and courageous! This is what matters. Most of the people are too scared even to try, and some even don't survive! Some never heal! Do you know why? Because they are afraid. Fear is only in the mind. You have to be strong enough to overcome it. Just be confident that you have guts to survive, praise yourself for it. Or share the incident with someone. I read in Paulo Coelho's book "The Zahir" that if you wana get rid of your past then repeat it verbally, share it with someone, and keep on sharing until that story seems so ordinary that it loses its charm. I think this will help you a lot. Stay awesome!
@supportiveFreedom67 Thank you. I will try sharing my stories with people. It's just hard sometimes because no one that I know offline really understands anxiety and they're very judgemental.
