How to deal with inferiority complex ?

5 years of fighting with depression have left me completely weak and bereft of any self confidence and self esteem . I constantly find myself comparing with others . People of my age ( 28 years ) are doing so well in their careers and personal life . And here I am , under severe depression for the past 5 years and unemployed . I find difficulty in doing tasks that people of my age do it with ease .

I agree with all the talk that says that everyone ain't equal and we are all in different journeys . But my mind can't digest it and implement it .

How do I resurrect my life from this ? Any ideas ??

Hey :) Your 30's , 40's plus are probably going to be the best year's of your life. While others lives may crumble at this point. Ive seen it happen! Although, comparing is never healthy, but so easy to do. It sounds like you have been going through so much. Daily affirmations Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Looking at what situations in your past, created these negative core beliefs and what reinforces them, then addressing them one by one. Putting yourself around people, you think have a better life . You might realise their lives aren't what you think they are. Clean up you're social media Talk.. lots and lots of talking for support. Find something you enjoy and focus on that. Maybe start running a social media page about it. Could give you a positive focus and realise you're great at something, boost a bit of self esteem. Just a few suggestions, but ultimately, its only you who will know what you need to do for yourself deep down inside! You will and can, find the right motivations for yourself. You got this! :)

You are halfway there. Indeed, every journey is unique, different, and therefore incomparable. Deep down in your heart you know this. You can reassure yourself that there is enough space and time to take this journey day by day and step by step. There is no hurry, nothing to prove. It is just you, being alive in your skin, on this earth, and your life story will be like no other. So don't look back, don't look at your side. Only look within, up or forward. Even if you would only exist without any achievement,.. It would be enough. Have the courage to believe that all that you don't, and all that you don't do, is enough. Because you are enough and worth living how you want to live, at your own pace.

I'm in the same boat I can relate to what you wrote. What helps me is being active. I try to go to the YMCA and do classes such as swimming. I notice when I do activities even if it's just a walk I begin to feel better. In my experience it helps me. I don't have friends or family I can turn to to talk with and I also don't work due to a disability. Try not to compare but focus on what makes you happy.

@calmsoulmeet

I appreciate your post. It is so honest and relatable. I will share that I, too have some of the same feelings. That is the reason I came on 7 cups.

I have found that when I redirect my thoughts focus on helping others, I find purpose and clarity and forget about comparing myself. I will share that I am a military spouse who has moved a lot and had to put my career on hold, and I see my peers, and I get sad. But I am getting involved, stepping out of my box and looking for ways to insert myself in ways my peers are not. Maybe become a listener or find ways to help others.

Confidence can be found again. You are here to make a difference in the world!
