I have no one to talk to

The title says it: I have no one to talk to about my increasing anxiety and it made me come back to 7cups. I first joined here on 2019 when I had a really bad phase of anxiety. Lately I have been much better and more or less the anxiety has been on toleratabel level, and during the start of the 2020 have been even very hopeful about my future, but now thanks to the corona virus, I feel like I am falling back to that same old spiral of anxiety again.

I have some good friends I can talk with about most of the things and I live together with my partner, but I don't want to be a burden to my friends at these times, as its difficult for everyone and my situation is still "quite well" as I still have work and I can work from home etc. So everyone just says I should be grateful and happy. I have one friend who has anxiety as well and she understands my situation, but she is not so good at supporting as her way to talk about the things is just to start venting about her own situation instead and in the end it's me who always ends up supporting her.

My partner does not understand me at all - It makes me not want to talk about this with him at all which is really sad. He is just saying as everyone else that I should be happy that I still have work, and that there is things I can still do at home, and that many have it much worse - which is all true of course, but it does not make me feel any better. I don't want to do anything at home, I have lost all my interest to even things that earlier brought me joy and I have to force myself to do anything else than be on my phone or eat. Most of the time I just aimlessly browse Instagram or Facebook or anxiously google and read about different topics that cause me anxiety in order to have control and certaninty over them, which I in the end of course I wont still have. My partner has depression himself (having a better phase now) but he has never understood my anxiety, I feel like he still thinks its something I just make up and can be cured with saying "dont worry so much". It makes me frustrated and sad because I would except some kind of ability to understand me and feel empathy because of his own mental illness.

My coping mechnanism used to be having certain weekly routines, and having some small nice things planned to the near future. Now I don't have any of this, as all my hobbies and the nice things I was supposed to do are canceled until furhter notice. If it was only the small things, it would be easier to cope, but I was supposed to have really big things happening in my life this spring, like really lifechanging ones that were just around the corner, and now I am afraid that all that will be canceled too.

I work from home now and it's really difficult for me to keep the motivation, I feel really unproductive and I am really afraid all this will affect to my results and I will be eventually fired even though my employee is not one of those first in line to reduce employers because of the virus.

I don't know how am I supposed to do all that stuff recommended everywhere is social media - be creative, finish projects that have been on hold, learn new language, etc, when I'm barely coping and there is no way to know when all will go back to normal or if it ever will. How do you make the "best out of this situation" when you feel like there is literally no point with anything anymore? It would help to even know when all this is over and what is the outcome but ofcourse no one has such answers.

Im not sure if anyone reads this, but it helps a little bit even just to write this here, just to get it all out.

Hi @dynamicBalsam6128

Just wanted to let you know that I read your post and fully understand. Truth be told, most of us are adjusting to the new normal and probably none of us are as productive as we were before covid-19. I'm learning to give myself grace in these unprecendented times and simply take one day at a time.

What you're feeling is someone normal. I too had grand plans for this year and right now feels like each day has gotten worse. That said, I adjust my plans and expectations as I go. When I find myself beating myself up over all that I didn't get done. I try to course correct quickly and celebrate myself instead for the the small wins. Most importantly, I am really trying to not worry abou the things that I cannot control.

LOSS IS LOSS and in some ways with covid-19 we've all lost something (some more than others), none the less its loss and with all loss there is grief. Remember we all grieve differently so as our fellow 7 cupper said, don't allow others to make you feel that you should minimize what you're feeling. Your feelings are valid.

I pray that you are filled with peace, comfort, and joy in the midst of these challenging times. Be encouraged, tough times won't last forever. Blessed wishes.
