It feels like too many things are getting out of control
I have been feeling overwhelmed lately. I have a very important exam coming up soon, the kind that one's career can depend upon. I feel like I haven't studied a thing. I don't even realise how my day passes. Each day, I wake up, try to manage life, and before I know it, it's time for me to go to bed. When I look in the mirror, I feel unhappy with my body. I have worked very hard to get rid of my PCOS acne. I keep worrying about how all of it could come back any day now. When I sit down to study, all I can think about is how I can make my diet better, and what kind of exercise I could do today. When the day ends, I realise I didn't even do all of that. 2 days ago, my boyfriend broke up with me. I understood at first, and I was handling it very well...until today, when he asked me how I was doing. He assumed that I was struggling, and started trying to help me through it. That got me thinking...what if I'm not handling this well? What if I'm actually struggling? There are a hundred thoughts running through my mind at any given moment. Just once, I would like to feel like there is nothing for me to do, or be.
@believe310 It's interesting that you said you want to feel like there's nothing to do and no one to be because I actually wish the same thing at times. I also am an overthinker and tend to spend my days thinking of how to "better" myself and what I "should" do and it is overwhelming. It makes sense that you would feel overwhelmed as you have a big exam coming up but your mind is preoccupied with body image and right now your ex boyfriend and whether or not you are struggling. And while I do not know what exactly what will help you, what has helped me is realizing I have been hard on myself and trying to be more gentle with myself. This is easier said than done and I am no expert at it but I try to allow myself to make mistakes, to be lazy, and to be chaotic.
