I think people suck

For some reason, I just assume that everyone is a douche bag, I dont know why. It makes it hard for me to make friends. My therapist said I had this thing called hypervigilance. I'm afraid everyone's judging me constantly. But even without that, I still think that people in general just suck. What should I do? I doubt i'll get any useful advice from here, but it was worth a shot.

I should also mention that if I see someone who acts really nice and sweet, I just assume they're just being fake

@CrystalMermaid555 I wonder if this is your way of protecting yourself, afterall it is hard to be disappointed if you assume everyone is a douchebag to begin with. What protection does this offter you? How could thinking this way be unhelpful for you?

Do you ever feel as though you have behaved in a fake way to others? If it is something you feel guilty of it may cause you to see this behavior in others even when it's not there...or it may be that someone was hurtful to you with their behavior to the point that you now fear it all the time. In either case trying forgiveness couldn't hurt. If you can't remember having behaved this way to others even most of the time there's a good chance much of the rest of the population doesn't behave this way 100% of the time. I know some sort of anxieties don't go away by just reasoning with it one time so I recommend doing daily mindfulness excersizes in the path menu with guided audio or something similar that directly applies to learning to trust more. Also I'm thinking some sort of exposure to more people if you've been avoiding contact a lot lately...hopefully just with those you feel you can trust to not behave that way.

My depression sometimes gets me thinking that everyone will judge me harshly too. I hope your situation isn't due to depression, cause it really sucks.

Could also seek out people that are on the autism spectrum like someone with asperger syndrome because they'd not be likely to fake something when they can't pick out fake behavior in others and don't grasp sarcasm as well. They would be more likely to behave in a more literal sense and take what you say more at face value, I think. Most of them don't like cancelled or changed plans much but as long as you try to be as predictable/reliable around them as you can they shouldn't get annoyed. :)

@CoinFountain

No offense but I don't think that seeking out people on the Autism spectrum will help much. It'd be hard to find them and it would narrow my options. Not that there's anything wrong with being autistic.

It could be that your experience with people in the past has been mostly negative, hatred and love are all learnt. it's our experience and enviroment that shape this percepetion.

Look into Jung's work on his definition of extraverts and introverts. Pay attention to when I say "his definition", because it's a lot easier to find other peoples opinions on what they think it means and they are more often wrong or are making assumptions based on too few factors. Strange as it may be, you remind me of how I sounded when I was 12 years old. Although most of the time people being nice is fake; I see it as the lubrication that helps the so many annoying cogs of the world to work together.

Happy hunting.

Im pretty sure it has nothing to do with being an introvert
